About Carrie Eichberg

Dr. Carrie Eichberg is licensed psychologist who has been in practice for over twenty years. In addition to direct service, Dr. Eichberg is on faculty at University of Washington Medical School where she serves as a psychotherapy supervisor for psychiatry residency. She enjoys teaching and supervising new professionals.

Dr Eichberg is a graduate of Tufts University and California School of Professional Psychology. She completed her internship at the San Francisco Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry and her postdoctoral fellowship at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco.

Dr. Eichberg has a general adult psychotherapy practice where she sees adult clients for a variety of issues. She especially enjoys working with other medical and mental health providers as clients. Dr. Eichberg’s practice of therapy is based on research supporting the most important factor of success, the relationship between psychologist and client. Respect, safety and authenticity are the essentials of her practice. Dr. Eichberg’s approach varies depending on the issues with which the client is struggling and who the client is as a person. She doesn’t have a one approach that fits all clients but tailors her work to the individual. In general, she helps clients identify and enhance their current psychological strengths in order to address their problems.

Dr. Eichberg’s specialty is reproductive psychology. She counsels clients regarding a variety of reproductive issues including infertility, third party reproduction, donor conception and gestational surrogacy, miscarriage, and grief and loss issues. She regularly conducts psychological evaluations for gestational surrogates and donors.  Dr. Eichberg teaches an intensive course on donor and gestational evaluation for reproductive mental health professionals. She is the author of the children's book "Building My Family: A Story of Egg Donation and Surrogacy” and book chapters in “Fertility Counseling-Case Studies.”
