Dr. Sapna Doshi is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Founder and Director of Mind Body Health. Having served as a clinician on several NIH-grant-funded trials during her training, she is deeply committed to bringing science-backed treatments directly into the therapy room.

Dr. Doshi’s therapeutic approach draws heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She expertly uses ACT to help clients uncover where the avoidance of emotional distress may be driving their physical or mental health struggles. By helping clients clarify their deepest personal values, she builds their motivation to make lasting behavioral changes and live a more meaningful life. She strives to provide a warm, inviting, and highly validating space for healing.

Eating Disorders & Body Image

With highly specialized clinical training, Dr. Doshi treats the full spectrum of eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction. She helps clients untangle rigid food rules, heal their relationship with nourishment, and step away from the exhaustion of diet culture. Using ACT, she helps clients build tolerance for difficult emotions without relying on disordered behaviors, paving the way toward a different relationship with food and body.

GLP-1 Support, Bariatrics & Weight Management

Navigating weight management can be an incredibly complex emotional journey, particularly for individuals with a long history of chronic yo-yo dieting, weight loss, and regain. Dr. Doshi provides nuanced, compassionate behavioral support for clients dealing with weight concerns, exploring bariatric surgery, or actively utilizing GLP-1 medications. She helps clients deeply process their past experiences with diet culture, ensuring they cultivate the right mindset and establish sustainable behavioral patterns to support their holistic health while navigating medical weight loss.

OCD & Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

When OCD or BDD takes over, it can feel like you are battling your own mind. Dr. Doshi provides targeted treatment utilizing the gold-standard Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) alongside cutting-edge Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT). She helps clients recognize when they are getting pulled into an imaginary “doubt bubble,” empowering them to resist compulsions, quiet the harsh inner critic of BDD, and reclaim their time and energy.

Multicultural Identity & South Asian American Women

Understanding the cultural context of your lived experience is vital to effective therapy. Dr. Doshi is deeply passionate about working with ethnic minorities, with a specific focus on supporting South Asian American women. She provides an affirming space to navigate intersectional identities, intergenerational family dynamics, cultural expectations, and the unique systemic pressures faced by women of color.

Behavioral Medicine

Physical and mental health are profoundly interconnected. Drawing on her extensive background in health psychology, Dr. Doshi helps clients manage the psychological impact of chronic pain and chronic illness. She is also highly skilled in the gold-standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to help clients naturally restore their sleep architecture, as well as providing high-level stress management for busy professionals.

Reproductive & Perinatal Psychology

The reproductive life cycle can bring profound shifts in identity, mood, and physical well-being. Dr. Doshi offers deeply compassionate support for women navigating complex reproductive challenges—whether that involves supporting clients through the emotional, physical, and hormonal toll of egg freezing and IVF, or guiding them through the painful landscapes of infertility, pregnancy loss, and miscarriage. She provides highly specialized care for perinatal mental health, expertly supporting mothers through the complexities of pregnancy and effectively treating postpartum anxiety and depression. Additionally, she provides targeted behavioral care for hormonally driven mental health shifts associated with PMDD, perimenopause, and menopause.

Dr. Doshi has put together an incredible team of psychologists and dietitians. I’ve collaborated in care of clients with them, and I’d 100% trust any of the providers at MBH to support someone I cared about. The care is compassionate and also science-backed. Yes please.

Sapna and I were colleagues at Duke, where I had the chance to work alongside and learn from Sapna at a weight management clinic and pain clinic. She is a kind, smart, and insightful therapist who would provide excellent care to a range of clients.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Doshi for one year while at Duke University. I cannot speak highly enough about her. Not only was she a wonderful colleague, but I was always inspired by the passion and dedication she had for her work. She genuinely cares for her clients and I am sure they are greatly enriched by having her as a provider.
