Dr. Doshi is a clinical psychologist with unique training in both eating disorders and weight management. She additionally provides evidence-based treatment for commonly comorbid disorders such as insomnia, anxiety and depression.

Dr. Doshi has served as a clinician on several NIH-grant funded trials testing innovative approaches to the treatment of eating disorders and weight management. These experiences have helped her value the process of integrating research into the therapy room. Dr. Doshi tailors scientific research and evidence-based treatments to provide individualized care to her patients.

Dr. Doshi primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her treatment with clients. She particularly enjoys using ACT in helping clients understand where issues of avoidance of emotional distress might be creating mental health struggles and/or physical ailments. She enjoys helping clients clarify their values to help them build motivation and live a more meaningful life.

Dr. Doshi believes in providing patients with the tools they need to engage in long lasting behavior change. She strives to create a warm, inviting, and safe space for her clients to explore their struggles and learn how to make long lasting changes.

Dr. Doshi received her Ph.D. from Drexel University and completed her internship at Duke University Medical Center. She has worked at the following sites:

  • Duke Diet and Fitness Center
  • Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery
  • Duke Psychiatry Sleep Clinic

Dr. Doshi has put together an incredible team of psychologists and dietitians. I’ve collaborated in care of clients with them, and I’d 100% trust any of the providers at MBH to support someone I cared about. The care is compassionate and also science-backed. Yes please.

Sapna and I were colleagues at Duke, where I had the chance to work alongside and learn from Sapna at a weight management clinic and pain clinic. She is a kind, smart, and insightful therapist who would provide excellent care to a range of clients.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Doshi for one year while at Duke University. I cannot speak highly enough about her. Not only was she a wonderful colleague, but I was always inspired by the passion and dedication she had for her work. She genuinely cares for her clients and I am sure they are greatly enriched by having her as a provider.
