Telehealth
Dr. Abby Brown is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Assistant Director of Mind Body Health. She believes that establishing a collaborative, safe, and trusting relationship is the foundation of any effective therapy. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Dr. Brown provides evidence-based interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs. She empowers clients to gain deep insight into unfulfilling behavioral patterns, learn emotional coping strategies, and ultimately build a meaningful and present life worth living.
Eating Disorders & Body Image Concerns
Dr. Brown specializes in the treatment of adults navigating the full spectrum of disordered eating, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Orthorexia. She understands that recovery is rarely just about food—which is why she addresses the complex conditions that often co-occur with eating disorders, such as severe anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. She helps clients untangle rigid food rules, heal severe body image dissatisfaction, and reclaim their autonomy.
Chronic Illness & ME/CFS
Living with a poorly understood or stigmatized medical condition can be an incredibly isolating and exhausting experience. Dr. Brown brings an exceptional level of expertise to behavioral medicine, backed by an extensive research background and her work on multiple NIH-funded studies focusing on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). She understands the unique challenges faced by individuals navigating ME/CFS, chronic pain, and other invisible illnesses, providing a validating space to process medical distress, manage chronic stress, and grieve health changes.
Trauma & Emotion Regulation
When carrying the weight of past trauma or navigating intense emotional dysregulation, simply coping with daily life can feel entirely overwhelming. Dr. Brown provides expert, compassionate care for individuals navigating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma. Utilizing her specialized training, she helps clients safely process traumatic experiences, break cycles of emotional reactivity, and develop concrete, practical skills for lasting emotional stability.
Multicultural Identity & Social Justice
As a trained community psychologist, Dr. Brown brings a strong commitment to social justice directly into the therapy room. She is very passionate about working with individuals whose identities have been marginalized. She recognizes that mental health cannot be separated from cultural and societal contexts, providing an affirming, culturally responsive space to explore intersectional identities and process the impact of systemic stressors on personal well-being.
