Laura joins us at Mind Body Health with a wide variety of experiences in the field of nutrition. She graduated from Central Michigan University and trained at University of Michigan Health Systems. Laura has worked extensively with college students struggling with a variety of nutrition concerns from weight management and eating disorders to managing food allergens. She worked collaboratively with medical professionals to ensure their well-being during treatment. Laura has also worked as a community dietitian at Food & Friends here in Washington, DC. Here she provided medical nutrition therapy to clients with HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses.
Laura’s passion for nutrition is clear in her various community-based volunteer positions. During Hurricane Katrina, she served communities in Louisiana and Mississippi in their disaster relief efforts. In Argentina, Laura volunteered on an organic farm. Here in Arlington, VA, Laura has served as a volunteer for Rock Recovery, a nonprofit organization helping individuals suffering from eating disorders. Here she provided education to participants about medical nutrition therapy in the context of eating disorder treatment and provided cooking demonstrations for the clients as well.
In addition to joining Mind Body Health, Laura is also completing her Master’s in Public Health at George Washington University’s Milken Institute of Public Health.
Laura is an intermediate Spanish speaker for any clients who prefer getting nutrition therapy services in Spanish.
